The Rising Star of Si Fantauzzo

Si Fantauzzo was born Simon Paul Fantauzzo, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, on the 3rd of March 1982. His father was a plumber, and his mother worked as a shop assistant. Two years later the family would be joined by a sister, Elizabeth.

The young Simon studied Lau Gar Kickboxing and Kung Fu for ten years, winning several trophies. His first career ambition was to be a professional kickboxer. He also played Ansell League football and was top goal scorer for his team at the age of sixteen.

At a young age, Si was drawn to the world of film. He started as an actor at the age of fourteen, playing roles in two short films; Thursday and Ben Trolley. But Si was more interested in writing and filmmaking, and soon distinguished himself by winning a script writing competition. After that, he began focusing his efforts on writing and directing.

His interest in film influenced his education, so that he attained high grades in A-level qualifications at Newcastle-under-Lyme College in Film Studies, Media Studies and English, as well as a Distinction in a City and Guilds certificate in Radio and Television Production.

His dedication to the film industry took him through many production roles, including Avid editing, camera operation and script editing, as well as spending some time as a runner for the BBC. He also began lecturing in Media Studies after earning first a BA (Hons) in Media Production, followed by an MA in Audio and Visual Media Production at London Metropolitan University.

Writing and directing would remain Fantauzzo's first loves. His short films have won multiple awards in some of the UK's most respected film festivals. Some of his early work focused on controversial subjects (including necrophilia), while later works (including a feature in progress) reflect strong characterisation in London-centric plots with a unique style that can twist a series of sub-plots into some of the most intriguing convolutions of storyline known to modern screenwriting.

His personal favourite among his shorts is Down and Out's, which changed his entire view of filmmaking and led to the unique style of characterisation and dialogue which characterises his more recent work.

At the age of 24, Fantauzzo is currently working on his first television series, Positive, which is due to be aired by a Swedish production company.

Simon Fantauzzo already has his own fan club, started by a group of his former students. It is called the Simon Fantastic Fan Club.
